Your result for Test yourself: What alignment are you?...

Chaotic Neutral

You are The Anarchist; Chaotic Neutral.

You scored 38% Lawful and 60% Good, which makes you Chaotic Neutral.

Chaotic-Lawful is the ethical scale, on which you scored 38%, where 0% is utter chaos and 100% is total cosmos.

This Lawful scale doesn't necessarily judge how committed to the system you are, even though one could guess so from the name since the system usually holds the law, but instead it means how sorted internally you are, and how likely it is for you to choose cosmos over chaos.

You are chaotic, which means you let chance guide your actions, or just plain like to burst out and act randomly. You have less inner stillness than a lawful character and would typically enjoy being out amongst people more than home alone.

The Evil-Good scale is quite easily figured out, being the morale scale, and on this you scored 60%, where 0% is totally evil and 100% is completely good.

Now, evil here on this scale doesn't necessarily mean you're out to make people suffer. It means ego-centering and glorification of one's ego. You, as neutral, don’t make your actions based on a selfless vs selfish basis, but rather what you have judged to be the right thing to do for other reasons.

Being chaotic neutral, you set personal freedom above all things. You are reliable only in how totally unreliable you are. You act with passion instead of logic.

From [livejournal.com profile] ladytairngire

1. What's with you and your Mom?

Mom and I are tight. She's one of my best friends. We talk all the time about most everything. If I haven't had a chance to talk with her for a few days I find that we can sit and catch up and share ideas for hours. If I haven't seen her for a few weeks we take a day to adjust to each other again, during which time we'll snap at each other and get annoyed easily--before we get our zen back on and are best buddies again. There are still a few things that I get embarrassed to talk to her about, due to a lifetime of her being my mother... but most of the time I think of her as just another good friend.

2. What is one topic your friends and family know better than to let you get started on...

The third Harry Potter movie or the third Xmen movie.

3. What do you imagine you will be like as an old lady?

I hope I'll be a little like Purple Grandma--noticeable quirky, perhaps, but still sharp and strong.

purple g

4. You've got $100 gift certificate for Victoria's Secret. What do you buy?

Bras bras bras! Actually, bra bra bra. 3 bras I'm pretty sure would use up $100 with very little left over.

5. What do you think about when you can't fall asleep?

Valentino Just Isn't Doing It For me

No, but seriously, I tend to think a lot about writing. The only reasons I usually can't fall asleep are if I've got a lot to do and I'm worried about remembering it all, or if I'm thinking about a story and I keep having new ideas about it and want to keep working on it... and sometimes I just get up and write if that's the case.

From [livejournal.com profile] foxarris

1) If you could pick any 'wild' animal and tame it as your pet, what animal would you pick?

I'm really tempted to say skunk, because I love the idea of the shock effect. But if I could only pick one, I would pick a crow and teach it to say dirty words and give people the evil eye when they came over.

2)You have the power to resurrect one person, bringing them back to life with perfect health and a whole lifetime to live. Who?

My friend Joe. I never met him in person, but he was a great writing mentor for a time, and I found out he was dead when I googled him and found his obituary. It seemed like we still had a lot to say to each other and I'd like to get the chance to say it.

3)What fictional character from any (relatively well known) book or movie do you think you can relate to the closest?

Granny Weatherwax. Is that totally weird? I just think she has the right idea about people.

4)You're a network exec for a major broadcasting company and need to cut back. What one show from any station would you cancel if you could?

Oh so many temptations. But really, I don't have a problem with other people watching trash as long as I don't get stuck watching it too--I'm not really offended by anything that's on the air even though a lot of it is inane and pointless. Probably if I was a real network exec I'd end up canceling something cool and kickass just because the special effects budget is too high, and saving some low-production cost, high viewership show like Hell's Kitchen. So just to reverse the natural order of things and upset millions of people, how about I cancel American Idol and we all get on with our lives?

From [livejournal.com profile] kalenel:

1) What is your inspiration for writing? Not "who," although you can certainly include authors, but I'm referring to any events that you pull from or objects that you need to have near you in order to write. In other words, I suppose I'm asking about how you create your own inspiration, rather than drawing from other authors, as other people so often seem to do.

Slippage. As in, the slight alteration of a current situation/idea/story, in a continual process to create something new. And... real life, sometimes. Especially with the comic. Funny situations that seem universal or at least recognizable to a particular audience. And sometimes... dreams, odd occurrences of the synaptic process that feel like they could make a good/strange/different story. And sometimes a character will occur to me, and I'll start building a situation that would be interesting for that character. And sometimes a situation/world will occur to me, and I'll start building a character who seems interesting in that situation....

Basically, it's a pretty random process and there's no set way I have of doing things.

2) How do you make time for writing? Do you set aside moments everyday for it, or do you write only when inspiration strikes?

I am really bad about it, actually. I think the best way to get a lot of writing done is to have a deadline. Sometimes I can manage to create my own deadlines and that helps. A lot of the time I think, "Soon I'll have enough time to write...." But the hardest part about writing is to just ... sitdownanddothefreakingwork! So... I'm working on that discipline. Sometimes.

3) Where do you see yourself in ten years? Do you have a master plan that you go from to attain these goals (if you have any), or do you just float along in life and see where it takes you?

I sort of have a five year plan. Beyond that I'm not to sure. Part of it is that I DO want to see what comes up and where it takes me... because it seems like the fastest way to make God laugh is to come up with a definite plan for life.... So in ten years, I will hopefully live somewhere new (relative to where I am now), and will be working as a captioner/court reporter, and still writing whatever comes to me in whatever time I have. Of course if I am a totally successful novelist and don't have to keep the day job, that's okay with me, too!

4) If you could sit down and have tea and scones with any author, dead or alive, who would it be, why, and what would you talk about?

I think it would be pretty cool to sit down and have tea and scones with Gene Wolfe. Because I'M RELATED TO HIM. I have no idea what we'd talk about--hopefully some about writing, and maybe a bit about strange coincidences and happenstance. I just think it would be really cool in terms of ... some of our genetics are the same! Maybe the writing genes! From what I understand he's more reserved in terms of communication with the masses, so it would be interesting to get some insight into a more private author's processes and all that.

(I'd say someone like Neil Gaiman, because I think a conversation with him could never be predictable, but on the other hand, he's so accessible to fans online (which is good!) that it's almost too easy an answer....)

5) Related to the above question: what is your favorite tea? Do you even like tea? Have you ever had scones with devonshire cream and jam? Because it is totally awesome (It is 7:30 a.m. here, and I am ready for breakfast, can you tell?).

I love tea. I have a hibiscus tea that I bought in Chinatown, NY, that I absolutely adore--it's a lighter but distinctive floral flavor. I tend to go for the more floral brews, although peppermint has been a long time favorite. I have had scones, although not with devonshire cream. Some things are hard to get in this part of the country... But yes to the jam!

From [livejournal.com profile] kyrie1618

1) Did the secret admirer ever make it up to you? The long silences bit, I mean.

You know, I still do not know who that was. I say "was," and not "is," because I haven't heard anything from TSA or his compatriot in... going on six months (ish?) now. How's THAT for a long silences bit? However, I am still enjoying Doctor Who series 1, so I guess I have no room to complain....

2) What would it take to finish a marathon? What's stopped you so far?

40 kilometers, I would say would do the trick. Errr. What's stopped me is... lack of time, and lack of warm weather, and laziness. Oh, and that broken toe was a setback, but mostly... laziness. I think it would help to have someone to train with, and also to just be more determined than I currently am. But I WILL do it. Maybe even this year? (When it gets WARM again!?)

3) Want to start using strong crypto? Shall our next ten LJ posts be signed by us in a way that cannot be faked?

I don't know. I mean, I read Little Brother, I appreciate a healthy dose of paranoia as much as the next geek, but... on the other hand, I just have trouble considering myself significant enough for anyone to bother messing with. Not that that's necessarily the deciding factor.

I would sign my posts in a way that could not be faked if I had an idea of how to do that. I sort of understand the theory, but in a vague, non-applicable way.

4) Tell me more about Folding@Home?

Folding is awesome! Basically your computer makes these... computations... and figures out how proteins fold... Like when you eat food, right? And that food is turned into your body, you know? But how does it know what kind of body to turn into? How does it "fold" into the right shape for eyeball or muscle or... whatever? Errr, that's my basic understanding of it. Here is a fairly dense wikipedia article about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_folding

(Unfortunately they don't have an article about it at simple.wikipedia.org or I would have been so there.)

Anyway, the folding@home concept is that, since figuring out all the ways that folding can happen is a monumental task, many computers can work on small bits of data, which are then put together at Stanford to form a bigger picture of the process. Err, I'm pretty sure you can read more about this, and in more depth/detail/accuracy, if you go to their main page:

http://folding.stanford.edu/

Which you should do. And join my team: 159490

5) If you get a chance to upload, but you'd lose your body doing it, would you? Why?

Man, I'd really have to think about this one. On the one hand, when reading the latest Sawyer book on the concept, it makes complete sense to me and I'm all in favor of it. On the other hand, my hardcore scifi geek beliefs aside, I'm not ready to dismiss a spiritual aspect of our human existence, and how does that fit into an upload? Does my soul travel with my most current data? Or is the soul released when the original body dies, no matter what? Or is the soul just a comforting way to consider death? I don't think I could answer this without the process being a possibility in front of me, but...

I'm inclined to say yes... Sort of as a default. Like... get uploaded but have the upload inactive until the moment of my ... first death? I don't know, is that a cop-out? That sort of suggests I want the most of both options.... Tricky question.
