Politically Satisfied
Jan. 21st, 2009 11:19 amOf course, of COURSE, we'll have to wait and see what he DOES. But I am reassured and gladdened by Obama's oration; he is a masterful speaker. I can't help but feel that someone who is that well spoken will be decisive and make intelligent choices. Yes, I voted for Obama and have been in favor of him since he first came to my attention in the news. It will be an interesting few years, for certain. So... we'll see how it goes.
And while all of what he said was encouraging and heartening, I think my favorite part, the part that sums up for me best the entire political climate and everything that he said, was:
“On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord."

Maybe Obama is making nice with Warren for reasons more complex than I at first thought. I'm still unhappy, but no longer angry.

BUT.
Wouldn't you rather have someone who listened to all the sides, even the sides that you disagreed with?
I say that not knowing exactly what "palling around with" entails, but personally I'd rather have a President who is willing to talk to anyone, listen to all sides of an issue, than someone who will only talk to people he already knows he agrees with.
