This is a wonderful photo!! Did you get to hear anyone play it?

Yes, I did. My dad was preaching at that church so we were there for the service. The (80-year-old) organist has only been playing for a few years -- she switched from the piano -- so she kept it pretty simple, but it's got a nice sound.

It sounds lovely! My great-grandfather worked for the Kimball organ and piano company, in the production and installation departments. Supposedly there are organs still around that he installed, and I would love one of these days to seek at least one of them out and hear someone play Bach on it! :)

PS ... I love your user pic! :D

From my understanding, well-maintained organs can last for hundreds of years, so that would make sense that there was still one around for several generations.

I got the user pic from [livejournal.com profile] semyaza, who fairly frequently posts icons made from old manuscripts and illuminations. Definitely worth checking out if you like that kind of thing!

My university's pipe organ had to be shipped to New Zealand for cleaning/repairs. Universities and money lol.
