I've got a two week break from classes and while I have a lot to do, I thought I'd try to get at least one BIG book read during my "free" time. But which one??

Rumo is good, too. If that's your preference, go for it. But also -- The City of Dreaming Books.

Oh I've read that. It's my favorite book.

The Time Travelers Wife is an amazing book (read it before they made the movie). Another really good series is the Looking Glass Wars series by Frank Beddor, it's supposed to be the true story of Alice in Wonderland. Really, really good books. Enjoy you're break from school. :D

I've read Time Traveler's Wife. Alas, my copy of the first Looking Glass Wars book is in storage at the moment, so it didn't make the cut this time. :)

Oh bummer on the LGW book being in storage it's an awesome book. I'm sure you'll find a great book to read regardless of what anyone says. :D

As a conscientious objector, I must abstain from this poll.

But not from commenting?? :)

Clearly not.

If I weren't objecting, I would recommend It. But I am, being as I am conscientiously opposed, so I won't.

um.
I'm too good a friend to call attention to what's missing from your reading list. Directly.
Such a good friend, in fact, I revert to passive-aggressive yet humorously good-natured oblique commentary.

Well if I don't understand the nature of the objection, I can hardly do anything about it!

Well that's on the list of course. But that's not a LONG book. :P

Well in that case.

It is awesome.
So is The Stand.

Have you read the Mists of Avalon??

I started MoA once... probably 10 years ago, but never got through it. It's semi on my list but I don't have a copy... I'm not sure if I borrowed the one I had or lost it somewhere along the way.

I don't know who ANY of these peeps are except Stephen King. D:

I suggest Clarissa by Samuel Richardson instead! ^_^ It is freaking HUGE. And it's an epistolary novel!

Thanks for the suggestion. Tell me more about it? I'm actually picking from books that I already have on hand this time, but I might look into it for my next big break. :)

If you haven't heard of Walter Moers, see if you can find The City of Dreaming Books. It's an epic fantasy adventure about reading and writing. It... it doesn't get any better than that.

Clarissa is about a girl named, curiously enough, Clarissa. She's set to be married to a dude she's not particularly fond of, as she prefers this guy named Lovelace. She runs off with him and hijinks ensue. It's an eighteenth century novel, and is actually quite tragic, but a very good read.

Sorry, had to pick It, because I've never heard of the others.

I picked Jonathan Strange both because it's the only one of those I've read, and also because it's awesome. ;)
